We are always on the lookout for new, and free video editing options – especially for PC. Mac users are better supplied with the likes of imovie, and final cut, but PC home users have less reliable choices at a low cost -we cant all afford Adobe suite software!

Lightworks is a decent , free option I’ve tested this week. Normally I use Vegas (luckily i bought the professional version in a Humble Bundle offer) and Lightworks is comparable, but does still take a bit of patience and practice.

Its user interface looks similar – and luckily there are a lot of free tutorials on the lightworks website.

The home version is free – the only limit is that it can export 720p .mp4 files (this is fine for school use) and after 7 days use needs to be registered with an email – your school one will do.
Tech radar has reviewed it too – and they really like it, read here – https://www.techradar.com/reviews/lightworks
The free version of Lightworks can be downloaded directly from the website: https://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=98&Itemid=209
