Digital Publishing – Unit 5 Designing a Gaming e-magazine

Year 10 students start the BTEC course by researching Digital Publishing then designing an e-magazine. The scenario is below:

“You have been approached by a publishing company to develop a gaming e-zine. The product will information-based, about popular gaming trends amongst students like yourself. The audience for the product will be 14- to 16-year-old young people.

The publishing company wants a magazine that can be read on a number of publishing platforms.

Before you undertake any production work you need to demonstrate your knowledge of skills in acquiring digital content for your production. You will be required to begin generating some ideas for content and layout and source the materials you will need for inclusion in the final product.”

This year the students produced some excellent examples, some of which are below. All were converted into HTML pages that can be viewed and interacted with on a tablet.

All were designed using Affinity Designer, which can be bought for home use with a discount from Serif (ask your teacher)
