Autumn Celebrations Competition Winners 2024

I am pleased to announce the Autumn Art Competition winners 2024, chosen from a wide variety of entries from across the school.

As a team we looked for creativity and talent that captured the beauty, warmth, and spirit of autumn through the artistic mediums of paint and illustration, photography and video.

This was a great opportunity for our most creative students to share their visions of the season, and we were most impressed by these honourable mentions, and the overall winners in each category.

First of all, the Visual Arts team felt that the following boys are all extremely deserving of an Honourable Mention for both their effort and their creative ability:

Romeo Da Re – Year 8 – Honourable Mention

Connor Turnbull – Year 7 – Honourable Mention

Marcus Ziegel – Year 12 – Honourable Mention

Angus Wemyss – Year 12 – Honourable Mention

Lachlan Gill – Year 6 – Honourable Mention

The Winners

We are all very pleased to be able to pick 3 overall winners, one each from the categories of Art, Photography and Moving Image. Here they are in no particularly order – each student wins a prize related to their subject medium.

Jack Tippett – Year 7 – Overall winner Photography prize

“The photographs that Jack took all very closely captured the feelings of the Autumn season. We also like that his images are all very carefully composed and balanced – they show a good use of the rule of thirds

Justin Hird – Year 11 – Overall Winner Moving Image Prize

“This is the only drone video entered into the competition, and we are very pleased that it is technically very professional and extremely effective. Justin uses his drone camera to sweep across these wide autumnal landscapes and he confidently captures the large open vistas very creatively ”

Otto Elkington – Year 7 – Overall Winner Art Prize

“Otto created two paintings that evoke the atmosphere of autumn very well. We especially like his moonlit crow painting, it feels mysterious and spooky, and is well suited to cold wintry nights. His mark making skills with his brush are bold and expressive”
