Believe it or not you can’t just wander the streets of London waving replica firearms chasing actors in cop uniforms – at least when filming that is.
Anything like that needs a phone call to the Police. And in the case of filming in London, it would be the Metropolitan police film unit, which can be found here:
Yes, they actually do have their own department dedicated to filming, mainly due to the huge volume of films & tv shot in London.
The website is full of useful info for film makers, and is actually pretty fascinating – and goes into a lot of detail into what to do when using replica firearms (You need an armorer on set…) and how to disguise fake police cars in between filming.
